Police Tuesday were trying to figure out what happened when a man was critically wounded in a possibly gang- related shooting in Santa Ana.
Gunfire was reported about 7:35 p.m. Monday in the 1700 block of North Spurgeon Street, Santa Ana police Cmdr. Matt Sorenson said.
Responding officers found a male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to his torso, Sorenson said.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, the commander said.
No suspects were in custody and no suspect description was immediately available.
The shooting was possibly gang-related, Sorenson said without elaborating.
