An innocent victim in a car on a Garden Grove street was recovering Monday after being shot by someone in a nearby Cadillac Escalade, and police said the wounded man appeared to be “caught up in the middle of something.”
The victim said he spotted behind him two very fast vehicles overtaking his car when he heard gunshots.
He was shot in the cheek and neck and the victim’s wife took him to the hospital for treatment, according to police.
The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Sunday while the man was westbound in the 11200 block of Westminster Avenue, Garden Grove Police Cpl. Kory Ferrin said.
“The victim was treated for the injury to the neck and the cheek area and the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening,” Ferrin said. The man seemed to be an innocent victim “caught up in the middle of something.”
The man told police two vehicles were racing toward him when he heard a gunshot, he said. The shooter may have been in a white late model Cadillac Escalade.
“Officers searched the westbound lanes of Westminster Avenue from Newhope Street and located a crime scene where the shooting had occurred,” Ferrin said.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Garden Grove police at (714) 741-5800.
