A 27-year-old was arrested Thursday on suspicion of murdering a 61-year-old man who was found with numerous traumatic injuries inside a Stanton motel room.

Michael Anthony Aparicio, of Anaheim, was taken into custody by sheriff’s gang enforcement deputies who found him sleeping in a car near Schweitzer Park in Anaheim, Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock said.

The victim was identified as Floyd Keith Taylor Jr., whose city of residence was not available, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.

Sheriff’s deputies were summoned at 10:16 a.m. Saturday to the Chester Inn Motel at 10890 Beach Blvd., after an employee discovered the dead man inside his room, Hallock said.

“The victim was bleeding and suffered from numerous traumatic injuries,” Hallock said. “Homicide, crime scene and coroner investigators responded to process and collect evidence from the scene.”

Another suspect, 20-year-old Nicole Marie Aranda of Anaheim, was arrested Wednesday at a home in Westminster and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with Taylor’s killing.

Aranda, who also had outstanding arrest warrants for unspecified alleged offenses, may face additional allegations as the investigation into Taylor’s death continues, Hallock said.

Aparicio was booked into the Orange County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $1 million bail. He’s scheduled to make a court appearance on Friday.

Aranda, who was jailed on a no-bail hold, was also due in court on Friday, according to sheriff’s online inmate records.
