Garden Grove police Tursday took a suspect into custody for allegedly firing a couple of shots into the air with a shotgun, triggering lockdowns at five area campuses.

Garden Grove police Lt. Bob Bogue said police received a call of someone firing shots near Blanche Avenue and Dale Street shortly before 9 a.m. No one was injured, he said.

The investigation led to a precautionary modified lockdown of Alamitos Intermediate School, and Lawrence, Stanford, Zeyen and Faylane elementary schools, meaning people were not allowed to enter or leave the campuses, according to the Garden Grove Unified School District.

The lockdowns were lifted about 10:15 a.m., the school district reported.

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, was taken into custody late this morning, Bogue said.
