Santa Ana police seized about $5.7 million in marijuana after getting tips about an illegal cultivation site in the city, officials said Thursday.
Acting on information from concerned citizens, police served a search warrant Wednesday at 401 N. Sullivan St., in a large warehouse in an industrial neighborhood, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
Inside, police found a ‘large, highly sophisticated marijuana grow” operation, Bertagna said.
Investigators seized 2,400 plants, weighing about 338 pounds and “conservatively estimated” to have a street value of $5.7 million, Bertagna said.
The building had several code violations, so was red-tagged, Bertagna said. So far, there have been no arrests in connection with the illegal marijuana operation, he said.
