A woman was killed when a big rig and a car collided on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Tustin, temporarily shutting down several freeway lanes until early Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

The collision took place on the southbound 5 Freeway just south of the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway about 11:25 p.m. Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deceased was a woman, according to the Orange County coroner’s office. Her name was withheld pending family notification.

The crash shut the carpool and No. 1 and 2 lanes, according to the CHP. A SigAlert was declared by the CHP at 11:49 p.m. Monday.

The road was cleared and the SigAlert cancelled at 2:04 a.m., according to the CHP.

The crash remained under investigation by the CHP.
