A fire that went to three alarms broke out Friday at a paper products plant in Buena Park, but no one was injured authorities said.

The blaze was reported at 4:43 p.m. at a Georgia-Pacific Corp. facility at 6300 Regio Ave., said Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority.

Almost 70 firefighters from the OCFA and the Anaheim and Fullerton fire departments responded and had the flames knocked down by about 5:45 p.m., Kurtz said.

Some units remained on scene mopping up and snuffing out hot spots, he said.

At one point, firefighters could be seen battling flames leaping from the building’s roof.

The plant was equipped with an automatic sprinkler system that firefighters enhanced by attaching pumper trucks to the structure’s stand pipes, Kurtz said.

The system “aided us tremendously in preventing the spread of the fire,” Kurtz said.
