A man from the Netherlands was being held  in Seal Beach without bail Wednesday on suspicion of using counterfeit ATM cards, police said.

Police went to a Pavilions market at 1101 Pacific Coast Highway at 1:34 p.m. Tuesday and found Arian Adam using a US Bank automated teller machine, said Seal Beach Police Sgt. Michael Henderson.

Adam was seen making several transactions with different cards. As the police approached, he ran but was apprehended after a foot pursuit into a neighboring residential area, Henderson said.

Adam was found to have more than 40 cards and over $2,000 in cash, Henderson said. He was booked on suspicion of numerous crimes, providing a possible home address in Long Beach, he added.

Adam is expected to be brought to Central Jail Court later Wednesday for arraignment, according to Orange County jail records.
