A 19-year-old reputed gang member was arrested after he allegedly fired a gun at two police officers responding to a domestic dispute, the Santa Ana police announced Sunday.
Two Santa Ana police officers responded to a family disturbance in the 400 block of South Hesperian Street about 4:40 p.m. Saturday, according to police.
As the officers arrived they allegedly encountered a man outside armed with a pistol, according to police. The man, later identified as Oscar Freddie Torres, then reportedly opened fire on the officers, missing both of them.
The officers did not return fire and Torres fled the scene, police said. He was later caught at a nearby house and a pistol was recovered by officers.
Torres was arrested and booked on a charge of attempted murder of two SAPD officers. Torres a reported gang member may also face a gang enhancement charge, according to police.
