A kids baseball coach for two decades who hoarded child porn while teaching Spanish at an Orange County high school has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually assaulting a boy for about two years, starting when the victim was 13.
The molester, who taught at Dana Hills High School, met the victim by volunteering at a county child advocacy agency.
The victim was not a student at the defendant’s high school. They met at the Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children in Orange County program, according to Deputy District Attorney Vanessa Woods.
Ezequiel Christopher Barragan, 50, of Aliso Viejo, also pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography and must register for the rest of his life as a sex offender.
Barragan sexually assaulted the boy between Aug. 14, 2012, and Feb. 7 of last year, and was in possession of child porn featuring boys 12 to 16 years old posing partially nude, Woods said.
Barragan taught Spanish to freshmen and juniors and was chairman of the school’s World Languages Department.
Barragan, who was initially a target of a U.S. Postal Service investigation of child porn, has coached high school, junior high and youth baseball over the past 20 years, according to Orange County sheriff’s officials.
