A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled substances for sale and other offenses after officers were called early to investigate a report of guns being waved during an argument at a Costa Mesa motel.
Officers dispatched to the Sandpiper Motel at 1967 Newport Blvd. arrived to see two males leaving a hotel room, according to Costa Mesa Police Lt. Greg Scott.
“One of the males fled from officers on foot, but was later captured and found in possession of a large quantity of heroin, cocaine, steroid pills and approximately $5,000 in cash,” Scott said Thursday.
The arrested suspect was identified as Daniel Cameron of Fountain Valley, according to Scott.
Others at the scene were detained and questioned but ultimately released, Scott said.
“No firearms were found, however, narcotics and drug paraphernalia from one of the rooms was confiscated by officers and determined to belong to Cameron,” who was booked on suspicion of possession of controlled substances for sale, possession of prescription medication and resisting arrest, Scott said.
Cameron was released after posting $25,000 bail, Scott said.
