Santa Ana Police are asking the public for help as they released surveillance video of an armed robbery at a cafe in hopes of tracking down the suspects.
One of the three suspects sat down at the bar at the M&Toi Cafe about 3:15 p.m. Monday and appeared to be sending text messages, police said. About a minute later, two other suspects, who masked their faces with bandanas, entered the shop armed with a gun and a knife.
They demanded that an employee open the cash register, while the first suspect to enter the cafe walked around to the other side of the counter and grabbed cash from the register and ran out with his accomplices, police said.
One of the suspects, who was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, was described as an Asian man 18 to 25 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, with black hair and a medium build, police said. He wore a black and gray baseball cap, blank bandana over his face, black sweatshirt, black shorts, white socks and black sneakers.
Another suspect was Latino or Asian, 15 to 21 years old, 5-foot-5 to 5- foot-7, with black hair and a thin build. He also wore a black bandana over his face and brandished a knife. He was wearing a gray short-sleeve T-shirt, black shorts, white and black socks, and black sneakers.
Police did not provide a detailed description of the suspect who ostensibly texted the other men.
