A Santa Ana man and woman were behind bars Tuesday, and police hunted a third suspect in the bloody stabbing of a gas station customer in a heated argument that led to a fight.
“We found him with the bloody knife and the rag he used to wipe the knife with and he was positively identified by witnesses,” Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said of the male suspect.
Concepcion Estrella Perez, 42, and Lisa Marie Herrera, 38, of Santa Ana, have been booked on suspicion of attempted murder as well as multiple outstanding theft warrants, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
The victim — a 53-year-old man — was hospitalized in serious condition with stab wounds to his upper torso but is expected to survive his injuries, Bertagna said.
The victim and the suspects pulled up to a Chevron gas station at 1104 S. Bristol St. on Monday night and got into a conflict that started in the business’ store and then spilled outside into a physical brawl in which the victim was stabbed, Bertagna said. Police responded to the scene at 9 p.m.

It’s not exactly clear what prompted the scuffle, Bertagna said.
“Apparently the suspect (Perez) felt disrespected by the victim in some way shape or form,” Bertagna said.
Perez and Herrera fled the gas station following the stabbing but police caught up with them a short time later, Bertagna said.
Perez was accused of stabbing the victim, he added.
The third suspect is a Latino man who is about 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10 and weighs about 140 to 160 pounds with a thin build and short black hair, Bertagna said. He was wearing a white, long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and black dress shoes.
