A mountain biker crashed on the Roadrunner Trail in Irvine Park Thursday and was airlifted to a hospital.

The 67-year-old unidentified bicyclist was taken by helicopter to a hospital as a “trauma” patient, but his vital signs were stable, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz.

First responders were called at 11:53 a.m., Kurtz said. The accident occurred in a remote enough area of the park that the helicopter had to land nearby, and firefighters strapped the patient to a gurney and rushed him back to the chopper, he said.
