The search for a Tustin homicide suspect continued Wednesday after an investigation led authorities to a Los Feliz apartment where a search warrant was served but no suspect was found.
Authorities surrounded the apartment complex about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, evacuating the units in that building as well as surrounding homes, said Tustin police Lt. Bob Wright.
The apartment complex is in the area of Los Feliz Boulevard and Rodney Drive, ABC7 reported.
Wright said police were attempting to serve a search warrant related to the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Israel Corpus, who was gunned down around 4 p.m. on Sunday at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Mitchell Avenue in Tustin. Authorities made contact with someone inside the Los Feliz apartment around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday but Wright said he would not classify the situation as a standoff although a SWAT team was on hand.
No injuries were reported.
Witnesses told the Los Angeles Times the Los Feliz apartments were evacuated after police arrived, and it appeared that officers were using a robot to coax a person out of one of the apartments. A loud explosion also rang out.
Authorities said early Wednesday that the suspect was not inside and the search continues. The suspect was not identified.
