A quick response by two officers utilizing a portable defibrillator and chest compressions resuscitated a 54-year-old man who had stopped breathing at the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, police said Wednesday.
Two police officers in the area overheard the dispatched medical aid broadcast a little after 4:25 p.m. Monday, said Costa Mesa police Lt. Greg Scott.
Within three minutes they found the man at the mall’s ECCO shoe store, lying on his back, purple, unresponsive and with a faint pulse, Scott said.
After officers administered aid, arriving paramedics rushed the man to a hospital, Scott said.
His condition was not immediately known.
