A pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck and killed Thursday on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, police said.
The man died at the scene of his injury, which occurred about 5:30 a.m. north of Seapoint Drive, the Huntington Beach Police Department reported. The unidentified victim appeared to have been in his 40s, police said.
A section of PCH was closed while an investigation was conducted.
The motorist, a 56-year-old Huntington Beach man, was going northbound on PCH in a Chevrolet Silverado when the pickup hit the pedestrian, police said. He remained at the scene and cooperated with police, and was not arrested.
“Based on the preliminary investigation … the pedestrian appeared to be walking in the northbound lanes of traffic when he was struck,” a police statement said.
