Interim Santa Ana Police Department Chief David Valentin has been appointed to the position on a permanent basis.
Valentin, who has been interim chief since June, will be sworn in on March 6, according to Deputy City Manager Robert Cortez.
Valentin has 28 years of experience in the Santa Ana Police Department and was deputy chief before being named interim chief.
He also served for five years as the police chief of the Santa Ana Unified School District.
