The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose two-tenths of a cent Friday to $3.334, one day after dropping one-tenth of a cent.
The average price is six-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 3.5 cents higher than one month ago but 8.7 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price dropped one-tenth of a cent to $3.297, one day after rising one-tenth of a cent. It is two-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 8.8 cents lower than one year ago but 3.6 cents higher than one month ago.
“Oil industry analysts say rain and unusually cold weather in California has depressed gasoline demand and at the same time we have seen an easing of supply worries caused by a Jan. 31 lightning strike-related power outage at the (Chevron) El Segundo refinery,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“Refineries are now producing the more expensive summer blend of gasoline so prices are not likely to drop much, but they are mostly holding steady.”
