A suspect in his 20s who was armed with a knife was wounded Tuesday morning in a deputy-involved shooting in an unincorporated area of Orange County near Anaheim, authorities said.
Deputies responded to a fight between two reported family members at a home in the 9500 block of Ball Road about 2:15 a.m. and made contact with the suspect, who was armed with a knife, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred, according to Lt. Patrick Rich of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The suspect was struck at least once and taken to a hospital for surgery, Rich said. No deputies were injured.
The intersection of Ball Road and Gilbert Street will be closed until at least 9:30 a.m. while an investigation into the shooting is conducted, Rich said.
