The wheels of a trailer being pulled by a big rig fell off Saturday morning on the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Los Angeles and prompted the closure of two lanes of the freeway until at least 7 a.m.

The incident occurred near the Calzona exit at 4:45 a.m. and left an axle and trailer in lanes of traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The semi driver was able to drag the trailer to the right side of the freeway, the CHP said.

A SigAlert was issued for the Nos. 4 and 5 lanes of the southbound Santa Ana Freeway just north of Esperanza Street until at least 7 a.m.
