Temperatures again reached the triple digits in the San Fernando, San Gabriel, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys and Orange County Friday thanks to strong high pressure and light offshore winds.
The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory which expired 8 p.m. for inland Orange County, the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and San Gabriel valleys, the San Gabriel and Santa Monica mountains and the Los Angeles County coast, which includes downtown Los Angeles, Malibu, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Long Beach.
There was near-critical fire weather conditions across many inland areas Friday afternoon, including Saugus, where at 3 p.m., it was 106 degrees with northerly winds gusting to 21 mph and 3% relative humidity.
Woodland Hills was the hottest spot in Los Angeles County Friday, with a high of 108, one degree hotter than Northridge. Temperatures reached 106 in Saugus, 105 in Chatsworth and Van Nuys, 104 in Pasadena and 101 in Burbank, Lancaster and Palmdale.
Records for Oct. 2 were set at Palmdale and Sandberg and tied at Lancaster. The previous record for Palmdale was 100 in 2012. The 93-degree high at Sandberg in the Antelope Valley broke the previous record of 91 set in 2012.
The 101-degree high in Lancaster tied the record set in 2012.
Lake Forest was the hottest spot in Orange County at 102, one degree higher than Anaheim and Yorba Linda.
