What was to be the Ontario Reign’s first exhibition game at their temporary home in El Segundo was postponed Sunday “out of an abundance of caution related to health protocols,” the American Hockey League team announced.
Instead of playing the San Diego Gulls, the Reign practiced Sunday at the Toyota Sports Performance Center, the practice facility of their NHL parent team, the Los Angeles Kings. The Reign will play their home games this season at the Toyota Sports Performance Center in an effort to reduce the possibility of spreading the coronavirus.
The postponement was the Reign’s second in two days. Saturday’s scheduled exhibition opener — which was to be played against the Gulls at FivePoint Arena in Irvine, where the Gulls will play their home games during the 2020-21 season — was postponed “as a precaution due to COVID-19 protocols,” according to the Gulls, the Anaheim Ducks’ AHL affiliate.
The Reign are scheduled for an off day on Monday. Information regarding their upcoming schedule will be communicated at a later date, according to the team.
