The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County increased two-tenths of a cent Monday to $4.339, one day after dropping by two-tenths of a cent.
It’s at its highest amount since Oct. 25, 2012.
The average price is 1.1 cents more than one week ago, 9.3 cents higher than one month ago and $1.22 greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price has increased more than $1.10 since the start of the year because of a sharp increase in the oil price and increased demand due to more people driving to work, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
The Orange County average price rose one-tenth of a cent for a second straight day, hitting $4.299 — its highest amount since May 3, 2014. It is 1.5 cents more than one week ago, 9.7 cents higher than one month ago and $1.198 greater than one year ago.
