Riverside firefighters rescued a person Friday who was trapped on an island in the Santa Ana River surrounded by fast-moving water.
The rescue operation began shortly after 11 a.m. in the river under Mission Inn Avenue, according to Battalion Chief Scott Wilson of the Riverside Fire Department.
A swift water rescue team from the Riverside County Fire Department assisted Riverside Fire’s technical rescue team in extracting the unidentified female from the island, Wilson said.
She was treated on the scene for minor injuries and released, he said. Her age was not available.
