The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped for the sixth consecutive day Saturday following a five-day streak of increases, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $4.933.
The average price has dropped 4.1 cents over the past six days, including two-tenths of a cent Friday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 3.7 cents less than one week ago, 10 cents more than one month ago, and $1.511 less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.561 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5.
The Orange County average price dropped for the seventh consecutive day, decreasing 1.2 cents to $4.858. It is 6 cents less than one week ago, 6.9 cents more than one month ago, and $1.527 less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.601 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5.
The national average price dropped six-tenths of a cent to $3.577, its fifth consecutive decrease. It is 1.2 cents less than one week ago, 4.5 cents more than one month ago, and $1.423 less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.439 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14. 2022.
“We may be in a bit of a demand lull heading into the July Fourth holiday,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “Drivers are benefiting financially, with 20 gallons of gas costing nearly $30 less than last year. And with the cost for oil low, drivers will find pump prices that are flat or drifting slightly lower for now.”
