The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Sunday to its lowest amount since Feb. 1, 2023, decreasing 1 cent to $4.565.

The average price has dropped for 17 consecutive days, decreasing 19.2 cents, including three-tenths of a cent Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.7 cents less than one week ago and 13 cents lower than one month ago, but 4.6 cents more than one year ago.

The average price has dropped $1.929 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price resumed dropping, decreasing two-tenths of a cent to $4.461, one day after a 16-day streak of increases totaling 20 cents ended when it was unchanged. The Orange County average price is at its lowest amount since Jan. 24, 2023, and 6.1 cents lower than one week ago and 8.7 cents lower than one month ago.

However, the Orange County average price is 1.2 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.998 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped four-tenths of a cent to $3.078, the third consecutive decrease after three consecutive increases totaling 2.6 cents. It has dropped 1.6 cents over the past three days, including six-tenths of cent Saturday.

The national average price is nine-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, but 4.2 cents less than one month ago and 32.7 cents lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.938 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
