The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped for the 15th time in the last 16 days Sunday, falling six-tenths of a cent to $5.254.

The average price has dropped 11.8 cents over the past 16 days, including 1.1 cents Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.2 cents less than one week ago and 11.9 cents less than one month ago, but 40.7 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.24 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 17th consecutive day and 24th time in 25 days, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $5.168. It has dropped 18.1 cents over the past 25 days, including 1.4 cents Saturday.

The Orange County average price is 6.5 cents less than one week ago and 17.1 cents less than one month ago, but 36.9 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.291 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped seven-tenths of a cent to $3.619. It is 3.4 cents less than one week and 1.5 cents less than one month ago, but 7.7 cents higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.397 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“Tepid pre-Memorial Day domestic demand and oil costs below $80 a barrel are the likely reasons for the dropping prices nationally,” according to Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “Most consumers will probably see pump prices barely budging for now.”
