The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County recorded its first increase since April 26 Saturday, rising two-tenths of a cent to $4.795, after dropping 53 times and being unchanged three times.
The average price dropped 57.7 cents over the previous 56 days to its lowest amount Feb. 23, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 2.6 cents less than one week ago, 33.5 cents lower than one month ago and 12.9 cents below what it was one year ago.
The average price has dropped $1.699 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price recorded its largest increase since April 12, rising 1.1 cents to $4.697. It is four-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 34.5 cents less than one month ago and 15 cents lower than one year ago.
The Orange County average price has dropped $1.762 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“Gas price decreases slowed down a bit this week as we enter the height of the summer driving season, but demand is still below what was expected, according to Oil Price Information Service,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“A few Southern California gas stations are now charging less than $4 a gallon for regular unleaded fuel.”
The national average price dropped a half-cent to $3.451 after back-to-back increases totaling seven-tenths of a cent. It is one-tenth of a cent less than one week ago, 16 cents lower than one month ago and 13.3 cents below what it was one year ago.
The national average price dropped $1.565 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
