The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped two-tenths of a cent Sunday to $4.503, its lowest amount since Jan. 17, 2023.

The average price has dropped 12 times in the last 13 days, and is 1.9 cents less than one week ago, 7.5 cents less than one month ago and 68.3 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.991 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price rose four-tenths of a cent to $4.412 for its third consecutive slight increase, three days after dropping to its lowest amount since Dec. 30, 2022. It is a half-cent less than one week ago, 10.2 cents less than one month ago and 62.7 cents less than one year ago. The Orange County average price has dropped $2.047 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“With the exception of San Bernardino, Santa Barbara and Ventura, all major metro areas in Southern California now have the lowest gas price levels of the year,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager. “Oil Price Information Service reports that California gasoline inventories have increased for three straight weeks.”

The national average price dropped a half-cent to $3.085. It is 1.8 cents less than one week ago, 12.7 cents less than one month ago and 30.5 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.931 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
