The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped six-tenths of a cent Saturday to $4.751, its fifth consecutive decrease.

The average price is 3.2 cents less than one week ago, 22.9 cents more than one month ago, and 11.3 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.743 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped for the ninth time in the last 10 days following a 23-day streak of increases, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.716. The Orange County average price is 3.4 cents less than one week ago, 24.3 cents more than one month ago, and 10.9 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.743 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Oil Price Information Service reports that Energy Information Administration and California Energy Commission data shows the state’s inventories and imports of gasoline have increased in the past week,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

“OPIS also reported that the HF Sinclair refinery in Anacortes, (Washington) has announced it will begin refining California-blend gasoline as early as next month.”

The national average price dropped for the ninth consecutive day, decreasing 1.1 cents to $3.103. The national average price is 4.8 cents less than one week ago, one-tenth of a cent more than one month ago and 22.8 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.913 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
