The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Sunday for the fifth consecutive day following a run of eight decreases in nine days, increasing 1 cent to $4.798.
The average price has risen 5 cents over the past five days, including 1.6 cents Saturday, after dropping 4.4 cents over the previous nine days, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 5 cents more than one week ago, but 8.8 cents less than one month ago and 46.2 cents lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.695 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The streak of increases to the Orange County average price was also extended to five days, but barely, with an increase of one-tenth of a cent to $4.741. It has risen 5.8 cents over the past five days, including 2.5 cents Saturday. The streak of increases follows a run of seven decreases in eight days totaling 6.1 cents.
The Orange County average price is 5.7 cents more than one week ago, but 8.9 cents less than one month ago and 43.5 cents lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.717 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price dropped for the ninth time in 10 days, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.135. It has dropped 5.1 cents over the past 10 days, including six-tenths of a cent Saturday. The national average price decreased three consecutive days, was unchanged Monday and resumed dropping Tuesday.
The streak of dropping prices follows three consecutive increases totaling 3.7 cents.
The national average price is 3 cents less than one week ago, 7.5 cents lower than one month ago and 49 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.881 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
