The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Sunday for the 12th time in 13 days, falling a half-cent to $4.632.
The average price has dropped 13.9 cents over the past 13 days, including 1.3 cents Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The run began one day after a 13-day streak of decreases totaling 11.6 cents ended when the average price was unchanged.
The average price is 8.5 cents less than one week ago and 23.4 cents less than one month ago, but 22.3 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.861 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 13th time in 14 days, falling seven-tenths of a cent to $4.547. It has dropped 16.8 cents over the past 14 days, including 1.2 cents Saturday. The run began one day after the end of a 12-day streak of decreases totaling 13.9 cents.
The Orange County average price is 10.5 cents less than one week ago and 28.4 cents less than one month ago, but 21.7 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.911 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“This is the typical time of year when gasoline demand drops, and pump prices usually drop as well in December,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement released Thursday. “Nationally, the gas price average dropped below $3 a gallon this week for the first time since 2021.”
The national average price dropped for the 16th time in the last 17 days on Sunday, falling eight-tenths of a cent to $2.955. It is 5 cents less than one week ago, 12.5 cents less than one month ago and 6.5 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $2.061 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
