A 36-year-old woman pleaded not guilty Monday to charges stemming from an allegedly alcohol-fueled hit-and-run collision in Rancho Santa Margarita in February that injured a 17-year-old boy.
Julia Elizabeth Royer was charged with hit-and-run with injury and child abuse and endangerment, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding the legal limit of 0.08%.
Royer is accused of striking the victim Feb. 2, according to the criminal complaint. A 10-year-old boy was the alleged child abuse victim, according to the complaint.
Royer was allegedly driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.23, nearly three times the legal limit.
Royer, whose bail was set at $50,000, was due to return to court for a pretrial hearing April 21 in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
Further details were not immediately available from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
