The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Thursday for the 23rd time in 24 days, decreasing 2.3 cents to $5.828, its lowest amount since March 21.

The average price has fallen 38.7 cents over the past 24 days, including 3 cents Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped six consecutive days, rose two-tenths of a cent May 25 and resumed decreasing May 26.

The average price is 16.9 cents less than one week ago and 40.1 cents lower than one month ago, but $1.157 more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 28th time in 29 days, falling 2.8 cents to $5.70, its lowest amount since March 19. It has dropped 49.2 cents over the past 29 days, including 2.9 cents Wednesday.

The Orange County average price dropped three consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent May 17 and resumed dropping May 18. It is 19.1 cents less than one week ago and 48.7 cents lower than one month ago but $1.12 more than one year ago.

The national average price dropped for the 21st consecutive day, decreasing 2.2 cents to $4.129, its lowest amount since April 27. It has fallen 43.5 cents over the past 21 days, including 1 cent Wednesday.

The national average price is 11.2 cents less than one week ago and 39.1 cents lower than one month ago, but $1.004 more than one year ago.
