Deputies used less-than-lethal force to end an hourslong standoff with a man who was barricaded in a barn near Corona Saturday.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said deputies received a report at about 9:30 a.m. that a person was violating a restraining order in the 19000 block of Carmelita Avenue in the unincorporated community of El Cerrito.
The man, who authorities believed was possibly armed, refused to leave the barn and threatened to kill deputies, sheriff’s officials said.
A SWAT team was summoned to the scene and used less-than-lethal force to end the standoff, sheriff’s officials said.
The man was hospitalized, but the extent of his injuries were not specified.
