The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County increased three-tenths of a cent Sunday to $4.26 — its highest amount since May 6, 2014.
The average price is 1.7 cents higher than one week ago, 9 cents more than one month ago and a little over $1.17 greater than a year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price has risen nearly $1.08 since the start of the year because of a sharp increase in the oil price and higher demand due to more people driving to work, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
