Seven people were injured in a seven-vehicle crash south of Beaumont Wednesday that prompted the partial closure of State Route 79.

The collision was reported at 9:10 a.m. at California Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Fire officials said one person with moderate injuries and three people with minor injuries were taken to a hospital.

Three others were evaluated by paramedics on scene and declined further treatment, fire officials said.

Details of what led to the crash were not immediately available, but the California Highway Patrol said at least one vehicle rolled over and ended up on its roof.

Northbound Highway 79 was temporarily closed south of First Street while debris was cleared, but was reopened around 11 a.m., according to Caltrans.
