A wind advisory is in effect in parts of Riverside County from 1 p.m. to midnight Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

West winds from 20 mph to 30 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, are expected in the Riverside County mountains. Wind gusts of up to 55 mph are expected in passes and canyons.

Gusty winds can blow around unsecured objects and tree limbs can blow down, causing power outages. Winds and blowing dust can cause hazardous driving conditions.

The NWS recommends using caution when driving, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, and to secure outdoor objects.
