Three people were injured Friday, two seriously, in a three-vehicle wreck just north of Lake Mathews.
The crash occurred about 12:05 p.m. at the intersection of El Sobrante Road and Vista Del Lago Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said that a pickup and two cars impacted at the location, but no other details were available.
Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the scene within 15 minutes and extricated two victims from their vehicles. One was taken to Riverside Community Hospital in critical condition. The other victim was expected to be airlifted to a trauma center.
A third party suffered unspecified minor injuries, but it was unclear whether that individual required hospitalization.
None of the victims was identified.
CHP officers partially closed El Sobrante at the intersection because of the wreck.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
