Rain is expected to return to Riverside County this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain is predicted Tuesday in downtown Riverside, Hemet and Temecula, and showers are likely Wednesday in the entire county, according to the NWS. The heaviest rain was predicted to fall late Tuesday and early Wednesday.

Warmer temperatures should return Thursday, with sunny skies sticking around until the end of the week as spring approaches.

Sunday’s high temperatures were in the upper 70s and lower 80s in the Coachella Valley, and were expected to drop into the 50s at night. Downtown Riverside, Hemet and Temecula had highs in the 60s, with lows forecast in the 40s.

Winds were expected to be relatively light at 5-15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph during the day and 30 mph at night.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain in the 60s in Riverside throughout the week, and in the upper 70s in Palm Springs. Coachella will see highs in the lower 80s through Wednesday, dropping to 76 on Thursday.
