A motorist who was fatally injured when he lost control of his car and plowed into a parked box truck in Lakeland Village was identified Thursday as a 56-year-old Lake Elsinore resident.
Arthur Temple III died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday in the crash in the 17600 block of Grand Avenue, near Perret Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officer Mike Lassig said Temple was driving northbound on Grand in his 2006 Honda Accord, going roughly 50 miles per hour, when he “made an unsafe turning movement to the left.”
“The Honda traveled the wrong way in the southbound lane and continued towards the southbound dirt shoulder area,” Lassig said. “The sedan entered the right shoulder area of the southbound lane and collided head-on with an unattended parked 2015 Isuzu box truck.”
He said that the force of the impact caused the parked truck to hit the rear of a second parked box truck, occupied by two people — a 26-year-old San Bernardino man and a 48-year-old Corona man.
Both suffered minor injuries.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics pronounced Temple dead at the scene.
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
