A hiker who suffered an injury while trekking a trail along the edge of the Santa Margarita Plateau in La Cresta was rescued Friday by firefighters.
The “hiker down” call was received just before noon on the Vernal Pool Trail, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location to initiate a search.
The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, suffered unspecified injuries after falling on the trail, according to officials.
About 12:25 p.m., first responders located the hiker, who was retrieved and taken to an ambulance waiting in a parking lot near the trailhead in Murrieta, according to reports from the scene.
