The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning in Riverside County for two nights this week.

The warning will be in effect Monday and Tuesday from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the areas of downtown Riverside, Hemet, Moreno Valley and Corona.

“Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 26 expected … frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the NWS said.

For areas north of Hemet to Lake Elsinore, widespread frost is expected with lows of 32 to 36 degrees.

“To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing,” the NWS advised.

Meanwhile, a wind advisory was in effect in the Coachella Valley until 7 p.m. Sunday, with northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts as high as 50 mph expected.

This week’s temperatures in Riverside County will range from the high 50s to low 60s during the day and drop to the mid-30s overnight. Hemet will be the coldest Sunday night, reaching a low of 29 degrees.
