The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose seven-tenths of a cent Saturday to $4.562, one day after a 10-day streak of decreases totaling 12.2 cents ended with an increase of two-tenths of a cent.
The average price is 4.6 cents less than one week ago, 15.4 cents lower than one month ago and 33 cents below what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.811 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“California refineries have increased production of gasoline over the past week and inventories have also increased, according to Oil Price Information Service,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“This week, California’s statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded dropped below Hawaii’s statewide average price for the first time since February.”
The national average price rose eight-tenths of a cent to $3.511, one day after a decrease of two-tenths of a cent ended a three-day streak of increases totaling 2 cents. It is seven-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and eight-tenths of a cent more than one month ago but 20.3 cents less than one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.505 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
