The Coachella Valley Firebirds Tuesday announced the signing of forward Damien Giroux for the 2024-25 season.
The Firebirds, the Seattle Kraken’s American Hockey League affiliate, added to the roster’s AHL experience Monday with the 24-year-old Giroux, who has played 179 games in the league. He notched 59 points (17 goals, 42 assists) between his time with the Iowa Wild and Rochester American.
Giroux has also played with the ECHL’s Jacksonville IceMen and captained the Ontario Hockey League’s Saginaw Spirit for multiple seasons, registering 194 points (101 goals, 93 assists) in the junior league.
The forward also went public with his diagnosis of an atrial septal defect (ASD) in an article on the AHL’s website earlier this year.
The team’s 2024-25 regular season begins Oct. 11. Fans can view the Firebirds’ full schedule and get ticket information at cvfirebirds.com.
