Indie rock band Neon Trees will headline the opening night of Arenas District Pride Week Thursday evening.

The Utah-formed band — comprised of Chris Allen, Tyler Glenn, Elaine Bradley and Branden Campbell — is scheduled to begin the four-day event with a performance at Día de la Reina at 8 p.m. on Arenas Road between Indian Canyon Drive and Calle Encilia.

“We’re incredibly excited to have the Billboard chart-topping band Neon Trees join us as our headliner,” Palm Springs Pride president Ron deHarte said in a statement. “Their music is a perfect fit for the vibrant and inclusive spirit of Palm Springs Pride.

Neon Trees’ fifth studio album, “Sink Your Teeth,” was released in September, another return to the catchy pop rock sounds the group is known for. Glenn, the lead singer, told American Songwriter that he believes the album finally “captured the kinetic energy that we put out in our shows.”

Glenn himself has explored themes such as faith and sexuality in his solo music, including his religious upbringing and coming-out story in 2016’s “Excommunication.”

“We’re trying to do everything we can to change things with the tone of love,” he said in a statement. “Love is a great unifier, and music is a great unifier.”

Palm Springs Pride Week continues for another three days, with this year’s celebration carrying the theme “Be You.” The event will culminate in a parade Sunday beginning in the Uptown Design District at Tachevah Drive and Palm Canyon Drive.
