Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans will perform stand-up at Spotlight 29’s Casino’s Showroom Friday.
Wayans announced on Wednesday that he would reunite with brothers Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans after 18 years for “Scary Movie 6” — Shawn and Marlon wrote and starred in the first two films, with Keenen in the director’s chair.
In addition to the horror parody franchise, Wayans is best known for starring roles in comedies such as “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood,” “White Chicks” and “Little Man,” in addition to dramatic performances in the likes of “Above the Rim,” “Requiem for a Dream” and “Air.”
He got his start with five of his nine siblings in the sketch comedy show “In Living Color,” which also gained wider recognition for other performers in regular roles, such as Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrey and Jennifer Lopez.
In the comedy sphere, Wayans created and hosted the TBS competition show “Funniest Wins” and released his first comedy special, “Woke-ish,” on Netflix in 2018. He has embarked on several stand-up tours, both solo and with his brothers.
His latest, the “Wild Child Tour,” has taken him back and forth across the country since mid-September. After stopping in the Coachella Valley for his 8 p.m. show, Wayans is set to continue to Tulsa and Durham before wrapping up the tour in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
