Great White will take the stage at Agua Caliente Resort Casino.
The Southern California hard rock band was formed almost 50 years ago and is best known for back-to-back Platinum albums in the 80s, “Once Bitten” and “…Twice Shy,” as well as a tragedy during a 2003 concert.
After briefly disbanding in 2001, original members Jack Russell and Mark Kendall teamed up to continue playing shows with Russell’s solo band members. A pyrotechnics-related hazard during a performance at a Rhode Island nightclub infamously set the venue on fire, killing 100 people (including guitarist Ty Longley) and injuring 230 more. It was the deadliest fireworks incident in United States history, according to a 2022 documentary about the event.
Following the incident, the group took a hiatus for several months before continuing on tour to raise funds for the fire’s victims and survivors. Kendall announced that Great White had “officially” reformed in 2006.
Russell left the group after five additional years, leading a new band called “Jack Russell’s Great White.” He continued his career until his retirement in July, less than one month before his death due to complications from a form of dementia and muscular system atrophy.
Kendall, Audie Desbrow and Michael Lardie, all of whom had been in the group since the 80s or earlier, were among those to stay in Great White. The modern lineup also includes Scott Snyder and Brett Carlisle.
Saturday’s 8 p.m. concert marks Great White’s last show of 2024.
