The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped 1.2 cents Tuesday to $4.697, a day after it was unchanged.
The average price is 4.4 cents less than one week ago, 20.3 cents more than one month ago and 61.6 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.675 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price rose 1.3 cents to $3.166, a day after rising two-tenths of a cent.
The national average price is six-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 4 cents more than one month ago and 50.9 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.85 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“The national average has seen its second straight weekly decline, with gas prices falling in over 40 states,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
“However, some states have seen increases due to localized price cycling. With oil prices rallying over the past week, we may start to see the downward trend in gas prices begin to stall.
“So far, 2025 has been relatively calm at the pump for most Americans, thanks in part to OPEC’s ongoing restoration of oil production and continued uncertainty surrounding tariff policy and its potential impact on the global economy. Regardless, Americans are currently spending over $200 million less per day on gasoline compared to this time last year.”
